Captain Dave

Captain Dave

He was born in June of 1955 and was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He has fished his entire life, spending nearly every weekend as a child and young adult at his father’s camp in Happy Jack (Plaquemines Parish- Louisiana). He has fished the Barataria Basin for about 50 years.

Prior to his career as a U.S. Coast Guard charter captain/guide with Bourgeois Fishing Charters in 2000, Captain Dave retired as a Fire Captain and acting chief from the New Orleans Fire Department.

Captain Dave’s favorite type of fishing is referred to as “tight lining”, with his preferred equipment (Penn Reels and Fenwick Rods), and his favorite bait is Matrix Shad.

Before a day of fishing, the main resources Captain Dave refers to is the Scout Look weather app, and of coarse, he monitors his radar before and during fishing charters.

When asked for the best advice he’d give to a beginner fisherman, he says, “Listen, learn, & practice the advice a charter captain gives you. The advice and little “tricks” I teach you will help you become a good fisherman/fisherwoman.”

CAPTAIN DAVE’S METHOD, TIPS, & TRICKS:
